Ron began his career in the recording industry as a studio gofer and by high school graduation found himself engineering and producing original music tracks, radio and television commercials, and corporate productions. With a strong desire to promote both music and education, Ron founded the Musician's Technical Workshop; a series of seminars geared toward educating musicians on "How to Make a Record". The seminars quickly grew into a regional event with participation by major record labels, music licensing groups, and even renowned television music composer, Mike Post. In his mid-twenties, Ron was promoted to Executive Vice-President and General Manager of Sound Recorders, one of the largest independent post facilities in the United States, specializing in state-of-the-art audio and video production. Due to the company’s diverse client base, Ron was exposed to virtually every aspect of audio production, from location and studio recording to film mixing, video sweetening, and disc mastering and had the pleasure of working together with many well-known clients such as Robbie Nevil, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lee Jeans, the NCAA, and Sprint. During those years, Ron earned production credits including several platinum recordings and broadcast awards for clients such as Mannheim Steamroller/Fresh Aire, Hallmark Cards, Wal-Mart, Blockbuster Video, and Pizza Hut. Seeking sunshine after years of dimly lit studios, Ron moved to Florida and helped Evatone establish Compact Disc mastering, video editing, DVD authoring, and premastering systems for its replication facility. While at Evatone, Ron led the research and development of new technologies and product offerings for digital content delivery, including the authoring specification for the Flexplay line of time-limited play DVD. Ron's ideas did not stop with contributions to Evatone. After learning that a company had the ability to recognize songs over the internet, Ron began conversations with Audible Magic and saw his concept called RepliCheck become a defacto anti-piracy system used most replication facilities around the world. |
In addition to offering his talents for hire, Ron is more than willing to share his knowledge. He has authored or co-authored several books including "Using Audition", a DV Experts series book on Adobe's audio application, "Designing Menus with DVD Studio Pro" on Apple's DVD authoring program, and a collection of tips and tricks in a book titled, "Adobe Video Collection on the Spot" geared toward Adobe's audio and video tools. Ron has also been a speaker and hosted panels at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention and the Media-Tech Association conferences. |
Ron is currently a partner in InSpec Media and continues to strengthen his knowledge while providing development, authoring, evaluation, and consultation for digital media-based products. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the IMDA-International Digital Media Alliance (formerly known as the DVD Association). Specialties: |
